My name is Joleene. I am a wife of 41 years, mother of 8 and grandmother of 13. I enjoy cooking and gardening... but not as much since I started seriously quilting about 7 years ago! Now I spend most of my time planning quilts, designing quilts, piecing quilts, long arming quilts, thinking about quilts and sharing quilts with my kids and grand kids.
I woke up one morning at 4:30am thinking about a quilt I was making. Something about it was just not quite right. After discussing it with my mentor, Patricia J Davey, I discovered that a red filter lens would help me figure out why, after 100 hours of strip piecing, I was not pleased with this king size spider star quilt. I borrowed her lens, and it was just what I needed, but I lost it! Wondering how I would replace it, I found myself wishing I had a pair of red glasses, so I could put them on my head or around my neck and they wouldn’t get lost. Thus began the adventure of Sew Red Glasses.
